MATCH STARTING

METHOD 1 (RECOMMENDED METHOD):

(1)
Once both teams are present and ready, one of the team leaders will host the lobby in Left 4 Dead 2. Identify who will do so and the rest add him as a friend. To do so right click on his name and choose “Add to your friends …” OR open the STEAM overlay (default is SHIFT+TAB) and in the chat channel, right click on the player name and select “Invite to game”.

(2)
HOSTER
: Open L4D2. In the main screen, open the console by pressing on the tilde key (left side of your number 1 key) and type “mm_dedicated_force_servers <ip:port>” (without quotes and <>). Once you have done this, select the “Play Versus” game type and choose “Play with Friends”. Then choose “CREATE NEW VERSUS LOBBY” at the bottom of the screen. After that choose the appropriate setting for the game (ie campaign, friends-only game, best available dedicated) and then choose “Create Lobby”. At this moment you can open the STEAM overlay (default is SHIFT+Tab) and announce to the chat room that your lobby is made. The other players will open L4D2 and they should see the hoster’s name at the bottom left corner of their main screen. Click on the name and join the game. Once everyone is in the lobby and in their appropriate sides, the hoster can start the game.

(3)
It shouldn’t take longer than 10 seconds for the appropriate server to be found and the map loading screen comes up. When you are inside the server, press the “m” button to check if you are in the correct server.

METHOD 2:

(1)
Once both teams are present and ready, one of the team leaders will host the lobby in Left 4 Dead 2. Identify who will do so and the rest add him as a friend. To do so right click on his name and choose “Add to your friends …”.

(2) HOSTER: Open L4D2. In the main screen, open the console by pressing on the tilde key (left side of your number 1 key) and type “sv_search_key xxxxx” (without quotes) where xxxx is the search key given by the organizer in an email. (3) It shouldn’t take longer than 10 seconds for the appropriate server to be found and the map loading screen comes up. When you are inside the server, press the “m” button to check if you are in the correct server.

DURING A MATCH

(1) Once everyone is in the server and their appropriate sides, type “!ready” (without the quotes) in the chat (default is the “y” button) to ready up. Once everyone has done this, the server will restart twice and after that the match is LIVE.

(2) All players must record their matches. To do so, open the console (default is the tilde key) and type “record x” (without quotes), where x will be the name of the file. For an example, TeamA_vs_TeamB_MyName. Once the recording starts it will automatically record the whole campaign and number them according to the maps. After the match has ended, open the console again and type “stoprecording” to stop and finalize the recording.

(3) Team leaders must take screenshots of the score after every round (default is “F5”). Since every map has 2 rounds and there are 5 maps in a campaign, the total screenshots of the points are 10. Please name them accordingly for easy perusal. For example, Map1a and Map1b for the 1st map, Map2a and Map2b for the 2nd map, so on and so forth.

(4) In case a player disconnects from the server accidentally, you can use the “!pause” command in the chat to pause the game. Once the player reconnects, the game can start again by typing the same command one more time. The “!pause” command is not to be used often and only during situations that warrant it.

(5)
Bugs that occur during the match that doesn’t result in a server crash
must be screen shotted by at least 1 person and both teams have to be aware of it. However, the match will continue as normal and there will be a possibility that the round or map where the bug occurred will be replayed. After the match has ended, kindly inform the tournament organizer who is present in the e-Club Steam chat room or have the team leaders immediately email to left4dead2@e-clubmalaysia.com with details on what happened and a screenshot of said bug. The tournament organizer might/might not request a demo recording of the match. If a demo is requested, information on where to upload will be given.

(6) If the server crashes during a match, all points that have been recorded up to the round/map where the crash occurred will be kept manually. Both teams will move to a secondary server and continue the match there. You can either get the tournament organizer to load the corresponding map or play the maps quickly until you reach the correct map to continue. After that, proceed to take screenshots and record demo as normal.

AFTER THE MATCH

(1) Team leaders send an email to left4dead2@e-clubmalaysia.com with the match results (ie finalized points, which team won, etc) and also an attachment of the screenshots (please zip them for ease). Please title the email ““RESULTS: TEAM A VS TEAM B (TEAM A SCORE : TEAM B SCORE)””. If there was a bug which requires you to replay a map/round, please include that in your email as well as the relevant information on the bug and also screenshot.

(2)
Keep the demos of your matches. You might never know if the organizer requires it. As covered in the rules, if a player cannot provide complete first person demos upon the request of the tournament organizer, then the player/team applicable rounds may be overturned from the match.

(3)
If there are any disputes, immediately send an email to left4dead2@e-clubmalaysia.com. Please read the rules and regulations for further information on the procedure.

This document and all rules are subject to change at the tournament official’s discretion.
